Iran plans to hold 2012 intl. Fajr festivals

Iran is planning to hold the 30th edition of Fajr international festivals in different art categories in the Iranian capital of Tehran and five other provinces.

 



This year's Fajr film, theater, music, visual arts and poetry festivals will kick off on January 25, 2012 to mark the annual anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The festivals will be held simultaneously in Tehran and provinces of Alborz, Kermanshah, Golestan, and Northern Khorasan.

Many Iranian and foreign artists and critics will attend the opening ceremony of the international event along with a number of the country's cultural officials.

The Selection Committee of the International Cinema competition section of the 30 Fajr International Film Festival has already selected 60 films out of the 553 submitted titles.

The participating films are directed by renowned filmmakers such as Kevin Macdonald, Dejan Zecevic, Marius Holst, Marek Lechki, Angelo Cianci, and Alberto Morais.

This year's festival will also screen Spy kids 4 by Robert Rodriguez, Hugo by Martin Scorsese and Monster in Paris by Bibo Bergeron in 3D format and under the international cinematic productions category.

This year's festival will also screen a wide range of Iranian films including Ahmad Amini's No Farewell, Abdolreza Kahani's Needlessly and Causelessly, Fereidoun Hassanpour's Ziba and I, Ali Vazirian's A Line of Truth, Farzad Ajdari's Salute to Angels and Mehrdad Ghaffarzadeh's Receiver.
