
The ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) has mounted an exhibition of paintings and miniatures by contemporary Pakistani artists in the Iranian capital of Tehran.
The exhibition displays 50 artworks by 12 prominent Pakistani artists.
The event has been co-organized by the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and the Embassy of Pakistan in Tehran.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition, held on February 3, 2012, was attended by Pakistan's ambassador to Tehran, ECI director and several Pakistani and Iranian artists.
The Cultural Institute (ECI) aims to foster understanding among Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states and preserve their rich cultural heritage through common projects in the field of media, literature, arts, philosophy, sport and education.
ECI's Charter was signed on March 15, 1995 in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.
The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was established as an intergovernmental regional organization in 1985 to promote economic, technical and cultural cooperation among its three member states; Iran, Pakistan and Turkey.
In 1992, ECO expanded its members to include seven new countries of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Pakistan's Contemporary Art Exhibition will run until February 17, 2012.
